TruSeal Asphalt & Concrete was founded by Severna Park native Ian Chaput. Early on, Ian discovered his passion for a job well-done by mowing lawns and walking dogs for extra money in the neighborhood. Weekend mornings were often spent completing yard work and other chores with his parents and two older brothers, which helped reiterate the importance of a strong work ethic. While in high school, Ian worked in the bag room at Chartwell Golf & Country Club. Interactions at Chartwell helped him discover a taste for exceptional customer service.
While completing his bachelor’s in business and marketing at the University of Delaware, Ian was introduced to the asphalt industry by a family friend, Tom Decker, who would later become a trusted mentor. What started as part-time warehouse work evolved into hands-on experience sealcoating driveways during the summer. Each season brought more clients, better equipment, and a growing sense that this could be more than a side job.
After graduating in 2018, Ian balanced a full-time sales job while continuing to grow TruSeal in the evenings and on weekends. By 2022, it was time to jump in and commit his full-time attention to TruSeal. Today, TruSeal is a thriving, fast-growing asphalt and concrete company with a clear mission: deliver professional results, communicate clearly, and build something real for our clients and our crew.

Katherine Mueller, who lost her battle with NET cancer, is the inspiration behind the foundation’s mission. Though her light was taken too soon, her legacy lives on through the work being done in her name, and TruSeal is honored to help carry it forward.
